VA Long Beach Care Package Delivery

On October 11th we visited veterans, our heroes, in the "spinal ward" at VA Long Beach Medical Center and delivered the 70+ care packages. Our time was blessed and we were richly rewarded with feelings that only come from serving others. Serving Christ by visiting veterans is a great way to spend a few hours on a Saturday.

Our Christian volunteers with Harriet, our companion service-dog.

We enjoyed fellowship with each other as we delivered care packages. A few of us found out that we had interwoven military experiences.

A father and daughter spending time with a veteran and sharing the gospel. The gospel can be shared in so many different ways.

Harriet, the service-dog, was loved and shared unconditional love back. She also inspired some veterans to inquire about how to get a service-dog companion.

Enjoying a moment with a fellow Navy Airdale (aviation). Sharing stories and having these unforgettable moments with fellow service men and women is why we keep coming back.

In the coming days the Veterans Ministry will be delivering a special gift. We are delivering an iPad, iPod and a multi-directional mount. The mount will enable veterans with paralysis (quadriplegia) to use the iPad. This will allow veterans to stay connected with their friends, family, and church. God is good and he answered our prayers to provide this to our brothers and sisters in Long Beach.

Our next visit to the VA Long Beach Medical Center will be in December. We hope you can be a part of it!
