Donations for Care Packages

Donations are assembled into care packages for the 80+ veterans receiving care at the VA Long Beach Medical Center's "spinal ward".

• Cards/notes of gratitude addressed "Dear Veteran". Most cards are home made with patriotic artwork or just simple handwritten notes of gratitude. It's a great project to do with your small group, children's groups or school classes, neighbors and family. The letters and cards are the most important and most needed items. 

• Men's socks Large (Available at Costco, Kirkland brand in 6- pack)

• Decks of cards and small games that fit into a gallon sized zip lock bag

• Christian books and booklets (used or new)

• Crossword and Puzzle books (Available at 99 cent store)

• Zip lock bags (2.5 gallon size) available at Target/Walmart

• American Flag Stickers, lapel pins and small patriotic items that fit in a large zip lock bag

• Magazines (new) - fishing, ESPN, Christian themed, Wired, etc.

• Other types of donations are welcomed but no candy, food or drinks.

In Loving Memory of Candy Soden

Our care package outreach from October 22, 2017

This past month our sister in Christ and ministry care package leader, Candy Soden, passed away due to cancer. She made an impact on many of our lives and helped shape our ministry and its outreach to serve those who served us. Please remember her and her family in prayer. She will be missed, but not lost.

In August we made care packages and visited veterans at the VA Long Beach Medical Center. Many volunteers came to create care packages and deliver the care packages. The "Singles Ministry" came and made a significant impact on our visit and delivery. Thanks to all who participated in serving our veterans.

We're blessed to be a blessing. Thanks for the sacrifice our veteran servicemen and women who risk their lives for our freedom we receive today in which our country is truly indebted to them.

It's always an awesome experience in The Lord connecting and fellowshipping with great Men & Women of Valor!

Veterans Gun Range Outing

Last month several veterans from the Wednesday night Fellowship Group went to the gun range to sharpen their skills. It was a good time for all. Iron sharpens iron!

Memorial Day 2016 Care Package Delivery

Saddleback Church called brothers and sisters of Christ to be of service to their fellow man; to show kindness and to be available. A large number of volunteers came to deliver care packages and meet with veterans at the VA Long Beach spinal ward. Many were first time volunteers with the Veterans Ministry. We pray many come back to serve veterans again on August 13, 2016.

200 care packages made last Sunday

The "Mercy" care package outreach this past Sunday was beyond amazing. You each contributed to make this event special for all the volunteers and veterans. With this act of kindness many hospitalized veterans (80+) will be encouraged and a seed will be planted. Our veterans deserve so much and we show them in a small way how much they mean to us. The care packages were packed full of goodies thanks to your generosity.
